  • Pay structure change!

I see they've changed the pay structure in the 90 and 180 man sit and go's.

Why the hell would they do that? If anything I'd prefer they went the other way. Less players paid more.

It is now possible to spend 4 hours playing a 180 man and min cashing for a profit of $0.29!!!! What is the point?

Am I missing some good reason for this?

The payout structures were changed to give more players the chance to get in the money. When this happens, we believe that the players will be encouraged to return to these tournaments, thus ensuring that the liquidity of the games for the future.

    Thanks

Getting a good return for a good run will make me return to a game. Recieving chump change after 4 hours of playing is more likely to put me off playing again. Maybe that's just me.

I'm willing to bet that if you put up a 180 man with only the top 12 paid it would fill way faster than the new format.

        Howdy Baard

1st. off...........nice to see you post,

        Anyways.....just wondering?

When stars change the format a while back in the cash games,

Is there more peeps playing them now?, or has the numbers fallen?

b.t.w. I play them far less now, and I know a few others that do not play them at all anymore.

        cheers

Think I'll try and put up poll on this. If I can work out how to do it.

              Just out of interest.

I think you underestimate the effect getting in the money has on new players. It is all about giving a positive experience to as many players as possible.

In the long run, I am sure it will be good for the games.

I see. It about helping new players.

The thing about new players is that they are not new for long. They very quickly become old or ex players.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Should have said thanks for you replies. And for your poll vote

How about if they changed it so that only 3 peiople cashed, or they made it so it was winner takes all for one lucky player?
Imagine coming 2nd several times, but never winning.

I much prefer a flatter structure. It reduces variance, for a start. When someone is trying to build a bankroll, a bunch of mincashes is great for the roll and for morale. A streak of misses (when getting ITM is so hard) can put someone off tournaments for life, while also quickly wiping out their deposit.

I do think the changes could lead to nittier games, though. When it's "easier" to cash, there's less need for desperate aggression/gambling.

A person walks into a casino for the first time and wins with
their $100.00 they will return many more times even if they lose
every time after that chasing that rush again.

If a person puts their first $100.00 on pokerstars and does not
win a thing they are more likely to never deposit again or at
least not until they forget that they lost it all without winning a thing.

If your a good player the bottom payout should not matter because your going for Top 3 payouts.

                          Pay structure change!

Well seeing we are dicussing sngs how about you puting in a 360 man $1 game, same format as the 10cent 360man, Ive noticed off and on others ask for this too and a $1 180 man as well. I think both of these would go over well.

                              Hi Mr. Baard,

That's exciting to hear that the reps at PokerStars are trying to think up ways to get people excited about particular games.

Because I play Zoom, which is kind of a hard game to jump into and land on your feet with - like the game moves 4 times as fast, there's less chance to develop in-depth reads on so many people, not all beginners have HUDS which can help people develop reads, etc. So I see so many more beginners to cash games looking to get their feet wet at the regular (non-zoom) tables ... I don't want to call them 'fish' but hopefully you know what I'm trying to say ...

And cash tables have that milestone promotion every couple of months - and zoom tables aren't eligible to win prizes in that. So, we don't benefit from that promotion, although there was a Zoom-specific promotion a couple of months ago where players who were able to win a hand with the hand of the day received a 1 buy-in bonus from PokerStars, which was AWESOME!!!

Any plans to lower the rake of Zoom, as a way to try and attract more beginners to the player pool? Since we pay so much more in rake per month anyways? Or are there any plans to have any more Zoom promotions any time soon?

Thanks for stopping by!! Welcome, welcome!!
