  • Official PokerStars VIP Thread

    Hello all,

My name's Dylan, and I'm thrilled to be a new member of the PSO forums as a PokerStars representative. While I am first and foremost here to help with any VIP Club issues you may have, I'm happy to try to field any other PokerStars-related questions that come up and gather feedback and suggestions from the PSO community.

A bit about myself: I've been the VIP Coordinator for PokerStars in Eastern Canada for about a year now - specifically I'm based out of Montreal. Before joining PokerStars I was a full-time poker player, playing mainly No-limit Hold'Em cash games, MTTs, and some live-events thrown in sporadically. I should be able to relate to most player concerns.

Looking forward to digging in and getting to know you all!

    Cheers,

    Dylan

To get this thread properly kick-started, I'm going to be running a contest for PSO posters with first prize receiving a $215 ticket to the Sunday Million and 2nd-4th receiving a Sunday Storm ticket.

Think of this as my any initiation as a new member

    Contest Details

We have many Supernova VIPs with accounts registered in Canada and in the United Kingdom. Where do you think we have the most, and by how much? Guess the ratio between the number of Supernova+ VIPs in each country as of March 29th, 2012 and win prizes!

Your entry should name the country you believe has the most Supernova VIPs, and the ratio by which it is ahead of the other country. For example, if you believe there are 50 Supernova VIPs in Canada and 25 in the United Kingdom, then you would post “Canada 2.0”. If you believe there are 63 Supernova VIPs in the UK and 20 in Canada you post “UK 3.15”.

The winners will be determined by who comes closest to the correct ratio, while choosing the correct country. For example, say the ratio is 2.02, and the four closest guesses with the correct country are A) 1.25, B) 2.05, C) 2.45, and D) 4.10. The 1st place winner would be contestant B (0.03 difference from the actual ratio), followed by C (0.43 difference), A (0.77 difference), and D (2.08 difference).

    PRIZES

1st place: One Sunday Million $215 Tournament Ticket

2nd-4th place: One Sunday Storm $11 Tournament Ticket

    RULES

    1. Winners will be determined by closest guess among entrants that selected the right country

    2. If fewer than four people choose the right country, remaining prizes will go to the players who guessed the incorrect country with the lowest ratio

    3. Ratio numbers will be evaluated to two decimal points. Ties will be broken by date/time of entry. The earlier the entry, the better

    4. Your FIRST entry is your ONLY entry

    5. Entry posts may not be edited. Any editing of an entry post will make the entry invalid

    6. Contest is open until April 15, 2012. Correct answer will be posted on that day. Entries may be made up until the correct answer is posted

    7. Unofficial winners will be announced April 15, 2012. If a contestant believes an error has been made in determining winners, he should notify me by April 17, 2012. Official winners will be confirmed April 18, 2012

    8. After official results are confirmed, the winners must PM their PokerStars username to me in order to be credited their ticket. Tickets will be credited before the end of April, 2012

    9. Contest is open to anyone, regardless of PokerStars VIP status

    Good luck to all!

    Dylan

Hi Austerror, good question. Supernova Elites's count as Supernovas. Players whose PokerStars account address is listed within Canada or the United Kingdom count towards the number. So yes, American born players who have moved to Canada or the UK are considered Supernovas of that country.

            Cheers,

Salut fellow Montrealer Sandtrap, I can't say I play much live in Montreal and would not consider myself a 'regular' anywhere - I have of course played at the Casino and been to a couple poker clubs. In the past my live play was at events like the EPT or smaller tours so that I could use poker as a means to go to places I'd never been before. How about yourself? Dylan

Welcome Dylan and thank you for a nice competition.

A perfect poker analogy question. Seemingly one of luck - that is only partially true, the winner will combine skill with a little luck I expect.

You have your very own thread over in that very simple math problem forum. Not sure if you have seen it, but VIPs seemed very pleased with contact they have had with you.

Which of course is cool .

*looks forward to two weeks of pondering*
