Generally the cash tables will earn you more vpp's than the sit n go's. Please click here for a page on how to earn VPP's on Pokerstars. Raiser umbup:

In some respects, you've lucked out on these cheap SNG games. Before the US players fell out thanks to our courts, those games had no fee and no vpps. So a bit of an improvement there. That's the short answer to your question.

As you read in the earlier response, you will earn your vpps much faster via ring than tourneys. The only advantage to tourney vpps play is that you know exactly how many you will earn per game played. Just check the tourney's lobby page and you can find that number under the payout section.

No doubt I'm just repeating what you already know, but rings allow you to earn the points while folding your hand. Very valuable if you are on a limited bankroll. Selecting the best game is a debatable one. Players claim Omaha has the fastest earning rate. My suggestion is not to go into any game where you feel less than confident.

Everyone also said the cheapest games earn the most fastest. If you read the PokerStar page explaining vpps earnings calculations, that is correct. However, when I played cash games, so few hands raked that it took forever. I was green with envy as others described tables where it cost them mayby 5¢ to earn 5 vpps playing the 1¢/2¢ games in ten to fifteen minutes. I would spend an hour on those tables, lose a dime, and earn 0.02 vpps since the number of raked hands was under five.

The cash tables will get you VPP's much quicker than tourneys. Actually, before black friday, when the US players could play, these quarter tourneys had no rake and therefore got a player 0 VPP's for playing them.
