  • Women in poker

I have a question, why do women get all these extra things on Pokerstars? Their own tournaments, their own forum, their own promotions.

Why do they get all these things that us men do not get?

The improvement of women are equal to men in the modern world is understandable, but now they get even more...

Not saying I am against women, i just wonder they always want to be equal to men and all but now it seems men dont get to be equal with women.

Btw in regards to people pointing at other sports that women have their own league, in other sports women cant play in the male leagues

In poker (in comparison) women can play in the male leagues but men cant play on the female leagues :S

They are trying to get more women involved in poker, some might find it more intimidating at first playing all men/

I see both sides of the argument and weaver between each depending on mood.

Maybe next year (too late now we could have a series of Mo-vember events for the men)

Meh I dont need an event special for men, but I see no reason why to have exclusive things to women

Actually, there is at least one men only tourney, called Cowboys Full. As someone who plays a lot of the women's tourneys, I can tell you they have a much different atmosphere than a regular tourney. How often do you see the loser in a hand say "nh" to the winner?? It happens all the time in the women only tourneys, and its rare that anyone knocked out at or near the final table isn't sent off with a chorus of gg, ul etc. PS is actively trying to increase the proportion of women players, and this is just another marketing tool. They are also promoting female members of Team PokerStars - see Talonchick video. I agree that it seems like reverse discrimination, but anything that increases players is OK in my book. umbup:umbup:

This is almost certainly not an 'equality' issue, it is purely marketing, directed specifically at a largely untapped market with massive growth potential. If it brings more people into the game, it can only be good.

Coyboys corral homegames are good like this. Even when i played bad. I agree it makes for a nice atmosphere and that is more likely to hook in new players. Grade b

I agree with that part 100% Ed. Anyone marketing ANY product in ANY industry will want to focus not only on their core groups, but any group that can grow the company's products.

Poker is dominated by men. Like the others point out..along with giving women an non-intimidating game to play, it's mostly about marketing.

                        It's only a play money game...but I scored a top 20 out of 15K in it.

Nice win, Dan. Play money games can be just as tough as real money when you get down to the top 10%. umbup:umbup:umbup:

hehe women at live tables can use other things as distraction.

for example Tilly/Tally in the heads up national tournament 2011. (its either in part 1 or part 2).
