  • Help on where to play in LA

I am going to be in Los Angeles on business next week, but will have some time to play. Never played in LA before. I noticed that the Hustler Casino is having some evening $100 buy-in tourneys next week. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jeff

I've never been out west, but have been told that LA is better than Vegas, because all the pros are grinding it out at Bellagio.

In what way does LA have the right kind of player/ I'm told there are many maniacs............

Personally I prefer Vegas games in general. My swings are too large in LA games. Also I prefer raked games rather than rent games.

Another thing I didnt enjoy in LA was the lack of enforcement at many establishments on the English only rule. Its hard for me to play my best poker when sitting at a table with 6 Asian players carrying on conversations with each other or with rail birds behind them. Instructing the dealer to enforce the rule was a waste of breath 7 times out of 10. On my last visit out of about 50 hours of playing time ($350-400 in seat rent) I had ONE instance (Hollywood Park) where, after a player ignored the dealers' THIRD warning in a single down, the floor was called and threatened the player with expulsion. Its not like they dont know the rule.....they just abuse it because of the few times it is seriously enforced. Anyway.....this is my experience.....as an infrequent LA visitor. Regulars may have a different view. Also before my first trip to the rooms I heard many negative things (team playing, scamming, taking shots, signaling) about the vast numbers of Asian players in the area which i found to be mostly untrue. With the exception of the language problems I met many nice, conversational people.....and had the chance to meet and play with a couple World Champions.

              BUT.....i digress....

              what was I saying? LOL
