Home / News / EPT London: The community unites for Missing People Charity Event

There have been plenty of important tournaments so far at the European Poker Tour (EPT) London festival.

We had a new Super High Roller crowned. We saw a former World Champ take down the largest UKIPT London Main Event in the tournament’s history. And right now, Day 2 of the EPT Main Event is in full swing.

But tonight, at the Hilton Hotel on London’s Park Lane, there’s a tournament taking place that, in terms of its impact, is more important than any of those.

About more than the money

The £550 buy-in Missing People Charity Event kicked off this evening (October 24) and £100 from every entry will be donated to the charity. With multiple re-entries available to each player, here’s hoping the action comes thick and fast and we see as many bullets fired as possible.

Registration is open for four hours and with PokerStars Team Pros, social media influencers, journalists, and other poker players in the field, it’s sure to be a great event and raise a lot for an extremely worthy cause.

Missing People, previously known as National Missing Persons Helpline, is the only UK charity dedicated to reconnecting missing people and their loved ones. When you consider that someone is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK, it’s clear just how crucial their work is to thousands of people across the country.

The mission? To be a lifeline for every missing person, and every family member or friend left behind.

Supporting people for 30 years

For almost 30 years, the charity has offered support to people affected by a disappearance, specialising in family support, counselling, and specialist services for issues related to missing people, such as exploitation and County Lines drug trafficking.

Throughout 2020 – 2021, Missing People was able to help 4,099 children and young people, 2,747 adults, and 1,757 families. Incredible.

At the time of writing, the tournament has received 87 total entries, and with registration still open, that means a minimum of £8,700 will go to help support the amazing work Missing People does every day.

If you need to contact Missing People or you wish to launch a public appeal to help bring a missing person home, you can do so via the charity’s free, confidential Helpline on 116 000.
