  • WPO, a little disturbed

i just received in the mail, a new schedule from binions horseshoe saying there are new dates for the world poker open. tournaments are now starting on the 5th, with the huge limit hold em event(500 buy in) on the 7th, and the no limit event(500)buy in, on the 9th. there are a couple of problems i see witht his and our convention. i am wanting to play the 500 no limit event badly. if i do well in this, i would miss the pso event. also, i will miss the golf outing in the morning. the ladies event has been moved form the end of the month, to the 5th as well. hopefully, the horseshoe has made a mistake, and sent me last years schedule by accident, but the dates(the year) is correct on the flyer. can anyone pleaseeeeeeeeeee help with info, kind of frustrating to see them change so close to the tournament dates.

according to the letter/flyer i have received today, it says:

4th annual world poker open, yada yada yada, new dates, january 5th thru january 26th, 2003. jan5th, sunday, satelittes begin, 3 draw lowball A to 5( limit) re-buys, 4 p.m., ladies hold em (limit) 220+20 buy in, ........

so it seems that everything was moved up two days, and rearranged a little. after dinner, if i get a chance, i will post an actual copy of what i was sent, with the whole schedule. it really puts a damper on things.......very disappointed if this is the real schedule.

        This is hard to fathom.

People plan for months ahead for this.

This is not good PR for WPO, unless the flyer is a mistake, which we have to hope it is.

        Keep us posted.

The last issue of Card Player shows what Red Rabbit posted:

        Date Event Buy-In
Tue, Jan 7 at 8:00 PM Super Satellites Begin
Wed, Jan 8 at 12:00 PM Single Table Satellites Begin
Thu, Jan 9 at 12:00 PM
Event #1 Pot Limit Omaha $500+$40
        Notes: Re-buys
Fri, Jan 10 at 12:00 PM
Event #2 Limit Hold 'Em $500+$40
Sat, Jan 11 at 12:00 PM
        Event #3 Limit 7-Card Stud $500+$40
Sun, Jan 12 at 12:00 PM

So maybe flyer is a misprint.

I'm not sure which is worse. Your anxiety over 10 hours or so, or my reading this all at once. First post, my heart drops, OH NO, i was planning on playing both the limit and no-limit events but now I wont even arrive in time for the limit. Then confusion through the next few posts, finally, relief... A mini-anxiety attack. I would say it was much worse stressing all day tho

So let me get this straight. The Horseshoe is planning a month long tourney. They are organizing hundreds of staff, rooms, etc. But amidst that, they have time to send out an "accidental" mailing to some poker players? Someone actually took time to type up a new, seemingly erroneous schedule and run off copies of it, fold them, put them in an envelope and send them out??? Sheesh. And I thought I had time on MY hands...

                    Geeeeeeeeezus,
Read Muzzeys post, and thought..."I guess we'll be the last to know". This would have been a total shocker!!!
I have NO idea who the idgit is that would have done that mailing, but I think I'm gonna ask around. I'm pretty sure our health insurance covers psychiatric visits....lol.
It never ceases to amaze me how much casinos resemble the US Govt.....the right hand very rarely knows what the left hand is doing!!
You can be assured, if there are any notable changes to anything going on regarding the WPO, I will post the info immediatly...of course, that's provided that they tell those of us who they are depending on working there.
