  • Who's going for ChromeStar

After reading baud2deaths blog on his ChromeStar push, got me wondering how many aside from me and him that's going for the new second VIP tier that wouldn't get off BronzeStar without ChromeStar's being added.
'Cause I have done it before and I can do it some more I got my eye on the score'

There 2 players that made Supernova after 2 days of grinding

It's a very good move from Stars but you shouldn't feel pressurised into making it. There aren't many advantages in Chrome over Bronze, just concentrate on playing winning poker.

I think Ovalman is 100% correct. IMO it is a big mistake to concentrate on getting fpps. far better to concentrate on playing good solid poker, the fpps will take care of themselves. I made the mistake of chasing Gold, it cost me a lot of cash and considerably reduced my bankroll, and i didnt make it.

I agree, grinding for FPP's is something to do only if you are already hitting your normal play goals and are bored for something to do.

Some people hate it when they need to earn VPP to make sure they keep their star. They will spend hours in 10 Zoom rooms grinding them out there.

I think its a status thing to some people whilst others prefer the extra multiplier for FPPs you get for having a higher star as well as other exclusive benefits.

If someone said to me "I am going to grind out VPP and i dont care if i lose cash doing it as i want the star!" -- I would not think they were a good player.

VPP/FPP's are like the comp drinks you get at real Casinos. Only a fool would waste money at a Casino just for the free drinks.

VPP/FPP's come with time... I used to use mine for random freerolls but I now have a saving plan to get 600 so I can start playing a certain event... not there yet so will talk about it when i get there.

FYI : Only 1 VPP away from Chromestar now with 4 games running live. Since VPP only show on your account when you leave an event, I will have to wait to win these ones before I can gloat about my new pretty badge

Freeroll tomorrow night could be value Baud2death, 500 in so far but a lot of Silver Star+ already might not know or care about it. I don't imagine it will stay like this every week so you should make a point of joining it.

I'm a fraction of a point off Chrome and playing 1 now so I'll be in tomorrow. I should make Silver at least this month assuming my ROI stays positive and depending on how well my move to $3.50 goes.

Baud makes some very good points btw, each FPP is only worth around 1 cent so a positive ROI is far more important than the $1 in value you will get for reaching and maintaining it every month.

Do you mean the Priviledge Freeroll... if so i dont think it is on till 2am.

If you mean another Freeroll, which one? Sometimes my Torny filters reduce me from seeing certain games

Clear filter: Tourney/ VIP. #662784862 game starts at 20.30GMT if you're in UK.

Stars is so big it can be hard to find tournaments (and value!) at times but I usually avoid freerolls if their worth less than $1 buy in.

Whilst I do agree that you shouldn't be throwing money away for a shiny badge, going for ChromeStar has given me something to aim for, a kind of purpose, which has produced more success.

I'll explain, before I would of simply played whenever and whatever I felt like at any given time, not really putting much effort into my poker, not really being very disciplined in what I was doing.
But now I'm gunning for ChromeStar, I'm acting with more thought, more purpose, and it's showing. By sticking to my plan to get ChromeStar, I'm already having what could be my best year in poker.

To give you an idea of the improvement, my bankroll (all of which I earn't during 2012 from freerolling) at the end of last year was just over $240. $229 of it came in a single month (and most during 1 MTT), during a freeroll MTT heater I'll probably never get again, and earn't less than 150VPP the entire year.
In the last 4 (four) days, I'm $91 and 46.32VPP up.

If it wasn't for my deciding to go for ChromeStar, I wouldn't be were I'm at now. And it just goes to show that going for this sort of thing isn't necessarily a bad thing.

A plan is good ... very good in fact

I have no doubt the ellure of ChromeStar is going to get many people playing more, possibly even Depositing more but as long as you are aiming for it as a Seconday Goal, you should be fine.

I expect to be able to maintain chrome, but not through any special effort. It is nice to get a couple of extra perks!!

THIS!!! If you're playing +EV poker anyway and seeing a carrot on a stick out there that isn't stretching you past what you know is a sensible volume of sessions/tables for you then the extra motivation of going for an achievable goal is a great thing. Just be careful in not getting a heater confused for what is realistically sustainable havoc and you'll be A-OK. Good luck getting the chrome. umbup:
