  • Probability of ace in field

One of the statistics that Mike Caro gives is that in a ten handed game, odds are 70.5:1 that someone has an ace or a king.

How about if there is an ace on the flop, what's the likelihood of someone having another ace?

Or to put it another way, of any card on the flop, what is the probability that someone has paired it?

    Caro's Basic Data Stats

    Holding a pair pre-flop is 5.88% (16:1 against)
Holding no pair and making a pair on the flop is 32.43% (2.08:1 against)

    So:
    Code:
    # Pre Flop
    1 16.01 1.75
    2 7.76 1.49
    3 5.02 1.29
    4 3.65 1.13
    5 2.83 1.00
    6 2.28 0.89
    7 1.89 0.79
    8 1.60 0.71
    9 1.38 0.64
    10 1.20 0.58
is the odds against having a pair made based on table size.
