This was the Big Game, and he had already got almost double the next nearest. He told the table that he would probably fold all hand til the 150th hand had been dealt, even if he was dealt AA as Hole Cards, and lo and behold not long later maybe two hands or so, he was dealt that hand, No one was sure whether he was telling the truth when he admitted to folding AA. If he had played it He would have lost Big Time. He was dealt KK a couple of hands later and folded them too, although he would have won that one. umbup:

By the way, forgot to mention, he was the loose cannon, and in that game he gets to keep everything he wins over and above the initial $100K he is sponsored.

The Loose Cannon with the Highest win, also receives a $50K Poker Package. So it made a great deal of sense for him to Fold every hand once he had gotten such a massive lead over the next highest loose cannon, with only two more loose cannons to come in the series.

The goal in a poker tournament is to win the war, not to win the most battles. By playing to best win the war he was being both smart (playing the metagame) and greedy (playing for maximum payout) at the same time.

          Good Decisions!
