  • Rude Players!!

Was in the casino last night and i was playing live. freeroll two £10 buy ins.

there was a few good players in the tourney but there was a lot of disrespectful talk at the table with a few people throwing the word "fish" around.

i felt very upset at been called a fish when i was playing well.

have you ever been in this situation and how did u feel?

    many regards

    T

the whole point they do this is to try to put players on tilt.... if you fall for it, then they just ganied an advantage over you.

How to deal with it.... ignore them, take and their chips

If I'm playing well and someone at the table calls me a fish. I'm happy, I'm getting to them.

When i'm playing poorly and someone calls me a fish its a reality check, ty sir i shall adjust my play.

      Either way no worries

Also, been on the end of one guy's rant in Vegas too.... was in a tourney and showed a losing hand (to set one guy up and see if it tilted anyone)... a different guy jumps out of his chair and screams 'you're a #*$^% shark!'.... to which I just laughed at him when the poker room manager gave him a warning.

When I was a table game dealer, I can remember many rude players. Most are rude to each other, calling a player "idiot" and "stupid" were common. So long as the players kept their butts in the chairs and their hands by their chips, no problem. I found it amazing how fast these rude players quieted whenever our MOD (manager on duty) or security walked past the table. Sometimes they challenged each other to a fistfight, but an offer of a drink, non-alcoholic, usually distracted them long enough for their drunken minds to forget what happened.

If you think the players can be nasty to each other, let me educate you on the fun we dealers had with such customers. Were I to relate the verbal abuse here, it would be censored by our moderators. Some of our best customers could put sailors to shame when it came to the more colorfull language. Women were by far the worse. They thought their sex exempted them from proper behavior. Given the choice, I preferred rude men to women. Men responded to kind words while ladies got angrier.

Let's talk physical. You might not know it, but the tables are designed the way they are for a reason. I have had two customers take a swing at me. The guy couldn't reach me, though he stood over six feet tall. He vented his frustration by hitting the table so hard the tokens jumped in their tubes. When the woman missed with her slap, she stomped out of the building leaving her cheques on the table. My crime? Dealing myself a blackjack when they doubled their $5 bet.

Funniest incident happened three times, each time by a different woman. The lady watched me deal for a few moments, leaned over the table as close as possible, and made me an indecent proposal. Each of these ladies was immediately escorted out of the casino by our security people. Not because of what they said. They were fall-on-their-face drunk.

Talk about an ego buster. How would you feel if the only member of the opposite sex that found you attractive happened to be blasted? And such proposals were an equal opportunity situation. The old hedgehog got propositions by one very drunk gentleman who almost passed out on the table.

Always makes me sick when people abuse dealers Cairn.

I do it myself...but I ALWAYS do it with a smile!

I had one particular Pai Gow dealer who I always sat at his table when I'd take a little table games break after a poker table. I "abused him" by calling him "Dr. Death Hands" for his amazing ability to chop versus my rare full houses in Pai Gow (a set on the bottom, with a pair on top)!

Of course this same dealer dealt me quad aces when I had a $5 side bet for myself up, and a $2 toke for him. I forget the exact pay out for it, but it was a good sum for me...and for him. I endlessly abused him about the fact that he could ONLY deal me a bonus hand when I toked him...then I further abused him by making sure whenever I made a bonus bet, I put a buck up for him ( rarely play the bonus bet in pai gow).

so while my kidding aorund by telling the dealers they were out to get me was totally meant in joking fashion, it did tend to burn off a bit of steam to laugh with them if I was losing. THAT is abuse, especially when accompanied by frequent tokes, that I do not think dealers mind so much...

Unfortunately, I am sure not everyone laughs off losses, and that makes the job quite stressful at times. And because of that, if a relief dealer came to a table I was playing, I would start my joking ways, but if they did not laugh or smile along, I would stop...I mean I get that dealers have bad days at work too.

Still...nothing beats poker dealer Roberto, who dealt me 5 hands in 1 dealer shift, all JJ+, and let someone suck out on me on EVERY ONE OF THEM!!!!

I still remind Roberto about that every time he sits at my table to deal. His response used to be: "Well sir if you know that about me, then you can always take a half hour dinner break!"

Now it has become: "HA! I'm gunna BUST you this shift Dave!!!!" with a huge smile...and I tell the entire table Roberto keeps his hands in an ice chest on breaks, just so he can freeze the deck!

Anyone who cannot joke with dealers, and make their time at the table as fun as you are trying to make yours, really has no business gambling in the first place.

Sounds like you're saying that anyone who can't control their tilt shouldn't play.
