  • HEAD2 HEAD League?

    HEAD 2 Head ply once?
    3 Time Bracelet Winner

A head-to-head format would mirror something like the NCAA March Madness. Two players play one-on-one, with the winner moving onto the next game, until you have an ultimate winner. There are a few minor hurdles:

1 --- Based on the current PSO games at 10,000 players, the field would have to be reduced to 8,192 players. If the current game is filling in seconds, this will increase the panic to register.

2 --- At 8,192 players, the shotgun format would last 14 rounds of one-on-one play. Unless every round is played by a maniac, I'm thinking each round could last over two hours. Minimum time would run 28 hours.

        LOL @ 28+ hours

Hyper Hyper Hyper / Turbo Turbo Turbo ...90 second levels, 5 second time bank, progressive 100 chip ante per level might speed things up. Keeping the starting chip stack to lets say 1000 would also help...just my .02

The idea might be more workable via a table shotgun format. Ten thousand players would be a thousand tables. Winners advance to the next round of a hundred tables. Third round of ten tables will yield a final table. Four rounds would have a winner in approximately eight hours.

          So the questions become:
1 ---- Does the current tournament format take longer from start to finish?
2 ---- If the prize fund remains $10, could a payout formula be devised?
3 ---- Would such a structure prove viable by encouraging skill over luck?
4 ---- What happens if the full compliment are not registered?

          Possible prize structure:
Winning Round One --- Players advance - no cash prize (10,000 to 1,000 players)
Winning Round Two --- Prize of 2¢ to winners (1,000 to 100 players = $2.00 payout)
Winning Round Three --- Prize of 5¢ to winners (100 players to 10 players = $0.50 payout)
Round Four --- all players divide up the remaining $7.50 prize depending on finish)

Now for the REALLY BIG, BIG QUESTION: Would such a structure be more viable than the one currently in place?

I'm thinking not, but it is an interesting idea to kick around.

Oh that would be crazy to play in that format.

First table goes allin first hand,oh great.
You manage to beat the guy,2nd table repeat cycle.
Would be so hard to finish high repeatedly.

Could divide the PSO into planets and do HU that way with a equal blend of talent in each planet.
Still would be a cluster chicken to work out.

All you have to do is look at the $11 HU tourneys that go off every couple of hours, pretty small amount of players show up. Easier to grind HUSNGs then get involved in a tourney.

Yes it would be a crazy format, just throwing an idea into the pile with hopes that someone can sort through it in hopes of this actually becoming a reality one day..i think it would be awesome to have a HU format added to the PSO..I'm sure this would be a logistical nightmare for the PSO staff

              Ticket required?
              Perhaps smaller fields ?
              Minimum 20 VPP'S?
              Passing core quiz?
Top 20,000 of the previous month in the Open League?
1500 players from previous month in the Premier League?
              .10+.01 cent buy in?
