  • 20,000 miles of poker!

Just got back from Foxwoods after the first half
of my WPF experience. I will write a trip report
in several pieces over the next couple of days,
but I want to post a couple of things here first.

The most important thing is this: The support,
encouragement and suggestions posted here in
the forum really mean a lot to me. The good feelings
I get from being part of this community will outlast
the results of any poker tournament.

Thanks to gatorhb for passing along the results
    of my first two supersats.
(Gator, people are trying to tell you "a piece of the
action" has something to do with money? How
crass and cynical. Is there no romance left
    in the world?)

    Blind Bat 07 asks:
Now a question. Why would anyone spend money to play in a satellite for an event they can't play in [non-refundable airline ticket] to win a seat they can't sell [non-transferable]?

    What am I missing here?

BB07... you are assuming that my actions are based on
rational, coherent decisions. This could be a mistake
if you play NLHE with me! I will try to explain, however,
    in the trip report.

As already reported, I won a $10,200 into the final event.
The next night I got to 4 handed play and made a deal
that netted $4,500. I didn't win anything else so I made
just about enough to cover expenses for two trips, but
not enough to justify staying the whole time.
I had a R/T ticket HNL to PVD for $562. I looked into
getting a oneway ticket back, and couldn't find anything
better that about $800. I also asked my travel agency
if I could buy another R/T ticket, have them mail it to me,
and just not use the first part of it. I was told that if I
didn't use the first half, the second half would be
canceled!! So I will go try to make the hospital less
unhappy with me by working for a week and then going
back for another 5 day trip.

Someone asked about selling lammers. I was able to sell
eight $500 lammers for full value just by standing at the
registration line and asking people to buy them. Only one
person asked about a discount, and he bought it anyway
    when I said no.

And finally, for NewJane... here are the answers
    to your questions:

    1) Yes
    2) Yes
    3) Yes!

(Oh, wait, you only asked two questions...nevermind)

Why not buy a R/T ticket from mainland to Hawaii - and just not use the 2nd part?

My Tongue Was In My Cheek

... but you obviously didn't see it there, Huk [one of the problems with On Line Poker].

      Thanks for the answer anyway.

And again, congrats - regardless of your decision. It's not easy to win one of those sats.
