For myself I've dabbled at a couple sites, trying to freeroll it but haven't really been very earnest in my efforts as the sites just quite simple don't offer what I'm looking for. Also after what happened to US players via our governments Puritanical interference here I'm not looking to break a lot of rock working at this somewhere else to find the rug suddenly yanked out on us there and having the extra bonus of not getting any monies won and/or deposited back. Keep in mind that as of now Stars is the only one of the "Big 3" that HAS paid it's US players their monies. Furthermore the prospects of the other 2 ever making good on their obligations look dicey at best. That's a big part of the upheaval and uncertainty surrounding FT right now I would think.

For me Stars was unique to all the other sites in what they offered insofar as volume and game selection. You can reasonably (provided you work at it and keep improving...) start from $0 here and grind your way to a starting bank, hit the mini-micros and grind from there to the next level and so on and so forth. The sheer number of players and games make multi-tabling (something I think is essential for BR advancement at the lowest micro levels) pretty much any SNG/Turbo format a viable option here. The sites I've tried and/or looked at simply do not have anywhere near the volume of players or the selection of games that Stars has. Not even FT was comparable to Stars in this respect and they were far and away the next best offering that I ever saw myself.

My main hope is that we're back on here before long. If that doesn't happen I hope any US site looks at Stars and uses them as a template of sorts. But I'm for sure hoping we get back on here. I would gladly pay any taxes and/or fees to play here again, and I'm sure that the current players from around the world would like to see the site become more stringently regulated (ANY site operating in the US market will be highly regulated I believe...) so as to chase off the cheats and multi-accounters.

My main focus poker-wise since Black Friday has been studying/learning and playing live. I've been doing the B&M casino thing a fair bit with pretty solid results so far. Mainly tournament play as live, much like on-line,I seem to be a much more solid tourney player as opposed to my success (or lack thereof...) at the cash tables.

I think for myself it really came down to Stars offered what I was looking for (once I doped out a plan for moving along in my head, that took a while to formulate) and at the end of the day, and most importantly, I ENJOYED playing here. Before we got the boot Stars was the first site I logged onto each day and the last site I was on when I logged of at night. That's kind of telling. The other sites I have tried I can't really say the same and if I'm not having fun with it I don't see the point.

Yeah the volume at my new site is hard... its getting better but still slow. I played a 2-7 lowball tournet today that had 1 hour late registration I signed up 30 minutes into it and I was the 7th person entered lol

Also most of the tourneys like 95% are rebuy addons which I hate.. one good thing though is you can find some soft games.. if it were not for tilt I would have around $400 lol now sit at 60.. for the 4th time

I have noticed now some of the big time grinders are finding there way over now thoughm and a lot are starting back in the micros.. A few have told me they deposited $25 and will just try to run it up

EVERYTHING on these sites (I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same ones...) seems to be some type of "gimmick" game---rebuy/add-ons;all-or-nothings-;all-in every hand tourneys (someone should let tencat know about that one--he would own that game),or some other dopey structure. Stars has them to yeah, but here they're the exception and not the rule.

That and I still think that before all this shakes out the government is going to use the same banking statutes that they went after Stars and the rest with to pull the plug on US participation on those sites as well.

For me I grew to love playing on-line in the year that I was here--but it was playing HERE that I loved. Even FT,which I think would be universally accepted as the closest thing to Stars in the industry, was a red-headed stepchild in comparison for SNG/MTT game selection and that was my focus so I barely ever loaded up their site. And they far out-stripped what's currently available to us. So for me as of this point it's thanks, but no thanks.

Oh well my golf game is the best it's been in a couple years and football is starting. If Maryland would just license a FULL casino instead of this slot-palace BS that would severely cushion the blow.

Maryland do something proactive when it comes to casinos...? Well, we can keep dreaming.

As for myself, not playing at the others sites. Instead, I'm moving my azz to OC, MD which is a very short trip to DE and NJ casinos. And 5 minutes from a slot palace. Score one for me.
