  • Cheers for the tips!

Just want to say cheers for the people who gave me tips on playing my first live tourney (taxi128, !!!111Dan, Bones31271, monkeyskunk4, ketchup143). I went to the casino yesterday full of nerves and what ifs. All nerves subsided after a few hands and I soon got into the swing of things and took down some pretty decent pots. But unfortunately, The novice in me came through and I bombed out 40th (from 87 entrants) after a really bad call. We live and learn people...we live and learn. Although I didn't really get anywhere, I got a buzz from playing live in a casino and I'm counting down the days to the next time. I only hope that playing online in between live tourneys still does it for me. Cheers again.umbup:umbup:umbup:

Cheers Bones, I took on board the advice of not announcing to the table that I was a live poker virgin and played it cool, taking everything in. Loved the experience and like you said, upwards and onwards. Also loved the mix of characters that poker brings together, you don't see that online. It ranged from a punk and a guy with half his head tattooed, to business men and this sweet little old woman in her late 70s two seats to the right of me. As it turned out, she wasn't so sweet and rapidly went to work with aggressive raises and re-raises. looks can be so deceptive.

now t hat you got your feet wet in a live game you will feel more comfortable in the next one. you can spend some time watching your fellow players and you will be surprised at the things you will see, bad habits, things they will do when bluffing, when they have a good hand, leaning closer to the cards on the board when they hit the flop to make sure they saw the cards right. taking longer to bet when bluffing and quick with a good hand or the other way around depending on the person. good luck to you in future and watch all hands not just the ones you are playing in.

I agree with taxi... the more you play, the more comfortable you'll be in them. Be sure to always learn from each one you play in... and you'll get better and better.
