  • Rake

I've only started to dabble in cash games in the last week or so, but I'm sure that during this short time the rules and calculations on how much is deducted have changed.

Have any of you "cash regs" noticed this ?

It's gone 4am and that's my excuse for the rubbish in my previous post. Hallucinations induced by sleep deprivation are the bane of a poker players life I'm afraid.

I still have a question though. For micro stakes (for instance) the rake is shown as being calculated at the rate of 1c for every 20c in the pot. Does this mean they are taking 5% of the total, or is it only 1c for each "complete" 20c ?

Dont do it they are evil

Hey Darkman welcome to the evil side of poker, cash games can be very addicting and you will soon tire of the 1 cent/ 2 cent and the 2cent/5cent garbage thats played. I know in the last 4 months ive paid over a $ 171.00 in rake alone so pokerstars surely isnt starving.

Here this might help - I play the 5cent/10cent no limit and seeing a $ 20 shove is not uncommon
but have found the 10cent/20cent limit games actually quite good also.

Have fun and watch out for the donks because I tend to find them sucking out on me regularly.

      cheers The Hamster

ya Dman the rake is 5% up to a cap that varies depending on the buy in/blind size. my rule of thumb is it caps at the size of the BB until u reach (i think) .50/1.00 then it caps at small blind until over 1.00/2.00 then it varies dependin on # of players hope this helps
May the tinfoil protect you. MT

Thanks Dan. That's what I thought. So despite the increased VPP rate for $2NL it makes it a somewhat pointless exercise if a major reason for playing them is to accrue points. If I can get a grip of this new way of playing it seems I'll be heading straight to the $5NL tables then.

$12.50 to lose on each hand played. Oh dear. I'll be bankrupt in no time
