  • Trouble logging into Pokerstars client

If you have any issues logging into the Pokerstars client please see the following solution from Pokerstars support:

    Dear User,

Thank you for writing and our apologies for the inconvenience and
    technical difficulties you are experiencing.

We have recently updated our software and in order for the latest
version to work on your system, you will need to do one of two
    things:

    1) The easiest way to correct this issue is by setting your
computer's date back one day (to June 23) using the "Time
Settings" on the bottom right panel of your computer. You can
then run your PokerStars software as normal, as you will receive
our latest update. You can then reset your computer's time back
    to normal.

    To change your system time:

    1) Double-click on the time display (normally bottom right-hand
corner if you are using a PC and top right corner if you are
    using a Mac).
    2) Select the 23rd of June from the Calendar and confirm the
    change.
    3) Run your PokerStars software as usual - the software should
    now update itself correctly.
    4) It is advisable that you return to your computer's time
settings and reset the date to the correct one.

    2) Alternatively, you can install a fresh copy of PokerStars,
overwriting the old one (make sure you install the PokerStars
client in the same folder as the current one, to ensure your
settings and notes are preserved). You will then need to visit
our site and download the new version of the client.

To check where PokerStars is installed, right click on the icon
you normally use to launch PokerStars and select properties.

Download and install a fresh copy of the software from the
    following link.

    COM Windows version:

    http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/download/

    .COM Mac version:

    http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/download/mac/

If you are asked to overwrite any files accept. You should then
    have no additional problems.

Good luck at the tables and if there is anything else we can do
for you, please do not hesitate to contact us.

So in this update Staff, are players in the US now required to use .net if we already have the .com client..or is this going to force everyone here to go to .net? Not a biggie since we can't play for cash, but I would like to be able to see the .com lobby in order to assist players w/ questions about cash tourneys and games.
    Thanks.

Yes, US is forced into .net domain. It sucks. No previous hand display, etc.

Yeah I was only able to come in through .net (still have my .com saved though so maybe next server update all will be back to normal?...).

Anyone know anyway we US refugees can observe cash MTT/SNG's etc. while on the .net platform?

*sigh* Yet more indignity our way thanks to good old Uncle Sham.

No way to look at cash games or MTT. I think poker stars has either given up on US, or they were forced to move us off the .com domain by our wonderful government.

Well they prolly switched to the .net only log-on option for US peeps on April 16th,so maybe this is just because we had to re-log on and were shuttled that way accordingly? Hopefully next server update we can go back on the .com route.

But yeah I'm not discounting a CYA move on their part as well. At least there is some movement on the legislative side in the House today (see ericnancy's "A First Step..." thread).

I do not know about .net and .com access. Please email support@pokerstars.com in order to find out if US residents can only access the .net client. I will be asking them also but if you want to know immediately I suggest you ask them directly.

                      emaill from support

We have reviewed your account and see you are using a special
version of PokerStars called PokerStars.NET. This is a play money
only version of the PokerStars software.

PokerStars is no longer offering real money play, nor our full
featured software to US residents, or residents of US territories.

The feature you are asking about is part of our full featured
software (that includes Images and the ability to 'Find a
Player'), which unfortunately is not currently available to US
                      Players.

You can continue to enjoy playing at our Play Money tables on
                      PokerStars.NET.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please feel free to
contact us if we can provide further assistance.

I may need your assistance in this. I'm not the most savvy on the comp. I wasn't even going to open pstars until I saw something like this. Can you send me a pm with how to get started. Remember, you may have to walk me through it...I got plenty of time, and we don't need to complete all the steps quick, so take your time. Let's wait a until Monday to start if that's ok with you. That way you'll have a couple days to make sure everything is working ok, and I'll be out most of tomorrow anyway. Thanks a TON for your post on the update. umbup:

i did both of the solutions together that are listed in the first post. I reinstalled the software using the old installation file i had and then changed the date to june 23rd and updated it

if you don't have the installation file already on your computer, you are out of luck as U.S. players can't access pokerstars.com to download the .com software anymore

if you do have an old installation file just follow the steps on the first post in this thread, starting with the re-installation and then changing the date:

1). install a fresh copy of PokerStars,
overwriting the old one (make sure you install the PokerStars
client in the same folder as the current one, to ensure your
                              settings and notes are preserved).

To check where PokerStars is installed, right click on the icon
you normally use to launch PokerStars and select properties.

                              2.To change your system time:

                              1) Double-click on the time display (normally bottom right-hand
corner if you are using a PC and top right corner if you are
                              using a Mac).
                              2) Select the 23rd of June from the Calendar and confirm the
                              change.
                              3) Run your PokerStars software as usual - the software should
                              now update itself correctly.
                              4) It is advisable that you return to your computer's time
settings and reset the date to the correct one.

What i'm uncertain about is when the next pokerstars software update comes out if we will have to do this same process over again.

judging from jimbo's post they are trying to migrate all u.s players away from the .com software onto the .net software. time will tell i guess....
