  • Non US players playing online in US.

So I'm at work today, and during a quite spell, I start thinking about Black Friday, and how American player's can't play online anymore. And I then start thinking could I go on holiday to the US a laptop and USB internet dongle and play online?

Obviously the first thing that springs to mind is no, it would be like any other criminal offence, but given that it's just illegal for American's to deposit/withdraw money from American accounts, could I say play an MTT, finish ITM and possibly send the winnings to a UK account? Would my UK citizenship also come into account?

I doubt anyone here could give me a solid answer and I could consult someone more in the know, but this is more idle curiosity than any serious thought. But it would still be interesting to know.

    The answer is no.

May I play if I ordinarily live outside the United States, but I am visiting the United States?

It is not permitted to play for real money while in the United States under any circumstances. Even if you are simply visiting, you may not play on PokerStars while you are there.
    From FTP:

    Visitors to the US

I am a non-US resident but am visiting the US. Can I play at Full Tilt Poker while there?

No. Real-money play in the US is not permitted.

              Hello,

PokerStars has noticed that you recently accessed our services from the United
              States.

As you may already be aware, residents of the United States and United States
Territories are not permitted to make deposits into their accounts or engage in
real-money activity (game play, transfer of funds, or T$ trading) from anywhere in
the world. Such players may cash out their balances.

Residents of other nations are not permitted to engage in real-money activity (game
play, transfer of funds, or T$ trading) while physically located in the United
States. This applies even if you are a resident of another country.

We can confirm that any attempt to circumvent these restrictions is a breach of the
PokerStars Terms of Service. This will lead to your account being closed and your
              account balance being forfeited.

PokerStars has further information on this information online here:
              http://www.pokerstars.com/usaplayers/faq/

PokerStars’ Terms of Service is available on our website in full:

We trust that this has been helpful to you, but please feel free to email
security@pokerstars.com if you require any further clarification.

              Sincerely,

              PokerStars Security Team

Iwas not as they say trying to circumvent the rules. when i became a member a few
years back i could bring my laptop and play. they should send out a mass email
to show the knew ammendment to the new rules! not take it for granted that we
know thay have changed them. boy do i feel sorry for you U.S.A players.
