My guess is never. Best case scenario online poker is made legal within the United States, but even then the government gives Pokerstars the middle finger and tells them, "Buzz off we got our own sites now that we can tax and regulate right here in the USA!" ..... or everything stays the same and pokerstars simply doesn't do business with the US anymore.

I say never as well, see many online players within the states are speaking out agianst the governmnets rueling and are saying you took our jobs away, the simple fact is that playing poker online for a living is not considered a job in the united states of america, if it were it would be taxed already and all those people would of been paying taxes on there winnings in the past.

There is a good chance they still might have to pay taxes on any winnings they have won online in the past hence the reason the FBI has frozen all the payment processors and are reviewing every account owned by a us citizen case by case atm.

See the way the goverment looks at it is no one told you to quit your job and gamble online for a living, that was a choice made by those indivual citizens within the united states of america, they don't mind though if you quit your job and gamble in the casinos though because it is a regulated market and taxed.

Bottom line this is all about money and the government wants a piece of the pie it is a very big market and when they factor in the fact that 10 million americans have stopped paying taxes because they choose to go around the system so to say and cash in on the online frenzy well this just does not go over well with them.

No one in the united states of america that owns a house or pays rent gets a free ride so to say.
in the eyes of the american governement, and the players complaining atm about how the government took there job imho are playing right into the governments hand because they are saying it was there jobs and how they made there living, well the way the government see it if that is true and you guys believe we took your jobs away no worries you will get your jobs back and you will be taxed accorddingly.

Once of course we have regulated and taxed online poker within our country, till then best get a 9 to 5 job agian Oh yeah and thanks for paying taxes agian or go play in the casinos and boost the revenue .

Everything they are doing atm is cold and calculated, they ran a test run soo to say in washington for roughly 6 months banning players from playing cash games online, my guess is they seen a increase in revenue not only at the casinos in washington but as well in the tax bracket as most all could not afford to go the casinos everyday to try and make a living and had to find other means of income. once they seen they were more profitable banning online poker within the state, they simply had to wait for the oppertunity and rational resoning to shut it down completely.

You imho will sadly never play on poker stars for cash, but once it is regulated they will most certainly create a one site fits all for americans and is exclusive to americans only and will be regulated and taxed by the government.

This is bad business of course for pokerstars who speant a hell of a lot of money advertising in the states and building a clientell within the states, but all in all they had to see this coming, I mean when you give the fingure to the leading nation in the world than spam the hell out of that nation to retain more of it's citizens money thus taking it out of there hands, they had to know they were not going to put up with it forever and unfortunately the people are the ones who gotta suffer on this one.

I really feel for all the people in the states who basically got there Bank Rolls hijacked and I personally don't think you will see it all come back to you if any... if they are going over accounts only to taxed them on any previous winnings they may of had in the past. hell some people may end up oweing the goverment more than they have in there accounts atm and may get a bill in the mail high rollers that is.

If I were sitting in a high rollers shoes I would start to think about moving to a another country one where you can not be expedited for tax evasion and tossed in jail. lol

I laughed but of course this is not a laughing matter and were dealing at the end of the day with peoples lives which affect other peoples lives, it's really a messy situation but for all those online players in the states your best bet imho is to either play at the casinos or get a 9 to 5 job for the time being till you guys are back to playing online on the new site the government is surely going to come out with for you all.

I stopped reading after this first paragraph. You really should do some research... professional gambler IS a legitmate, recognized profession by the IRS. There is case law to that effect. The vast majority of professional gamblers are primarily poker players, as it's a game of skill. There are some sports bettors to. And it IS taxed, anyone who's filed a form 1040 knows that, c'mon. You are required to report gambling winnings and can write off losses up to the amount of the winnings if you itemize, and if you file as a "recreational gambler". But you are also allowed to file Schedule C, profit and loss from business (sole proprietorship), if you file as a "professional gambler". This isn't available to just anyone, there are guidelines for who can and who can not file as a professional.

I'm not going to go deeper into the tax law as I'm not a CPA or tax attorney, I just have a lot of personal experience with it as I do pay my taxes. Anyone who has been gambling and not reporting it and paying taxes on it, well, that's how they got Al Capone eventually.

Since you've stated a lot of things as "simple fact" without doing any homework yet, you probably won't start now... if you're curious, start by googling "Baxter vs United States".

well it really depends on how this case by the doj goes....if they fail to get these charges to stick and ps is cleared of any wrong doing......that being said then ps would have to find a way for usa players to deposit leagaly which is why this situation is going on in the first place.

only time will tell and my guess is its gonna be at least 1 year. im about to join the cookie club over at that carbon....i use to play at sportsbook(merge network) but my credit card tranactions would say stuff like beauty supplys ltm,ect ect.....so im a little iffy on going back

I decided to humor you and read on past your first paragraph. I stopped again at the 3rd. This is also false (the part about it being taxed). Of course poker winnings are taxable events, but the casinos do not track nor report winnings, with the exception of tournament scores in which some casinos issue a W2g for a payout above a certain level (some do not, as the requirement to do so is not totally clear). No cash game play is ever tracked or reported at the casino (and in fact would be impossible for them to do so, unlike online where the software actually COULD be programmed to track all this).

I am again convinced you don't know what you're talking about.
