Please help My wife and i would like to visit the UK in april of 2003.
Perhaps my friends in the UK would find me a good deal on a car rental.
We will be traveling with 2 others plus luggage so a medium sized vehical will be nessessary. If you know of a deal l would be in your debt

    Hi,

You're probably not going to go too far wrong if you try some of the following:

    Europcar - www.europcar.co.uk

    Thrifty Car Rental - www.thrifty.co.uk

    Global Self-Drive - www.globalselfdrive.com

    Easyautos - www.easyautos.co.uk

    Eurodrive - www.eurodrive.com

These are all reputable companies and importantly they all belong to "BVRLA" (British Vehicle Rental/Leasing Association) which gives you the usual protection etc.

Make sure that you ask for unlimited mileage, that you are given comprehensive insurance cover and remember to inspect the vehicle thoroughly for damage, chips, etc. and that it has a full set of tools (car jack etc.) and that the spare wheel is OK, before signing any acceptance or driving off.

You'll obviously need full driving licenses for all drivers, photocopies are not suitable.

All hire cars in the UK run on unleaded petrol (unless you choose a diesel engined car) which costs an average of between 76/79p per litre, or approximatel £3.80/£4.00 per gallon. A mid-range car will cost you between £30/£40 to fill up but if you have to reurn the car with a full tank, fill up before you give the car back or they'll charge you a premium rate for refilling the empty tank.

Hope this is useful, if I can be of further help please feel free to PM me.

*Awaits Yank incredulity at the price of 'gas' over here.*

As a point of interest, my car runs on Liquified Petroleum gas (LPG) which is currently less than half the price of petrol.

      lovely
