  • 3k starting stacks

ok having stayed up till 3 am tonight to play in the 3k starting stack
20 min round 100$ NLHE i am kinda of still working out if i like them or not
    what is everyones view

i think the amount of people busting early is unreal but you have time to wait for a good hand
we have just hit the ante phase and lost 50% of the people
but the play seems to have tightened up
only problem i see is that some players dont know how to play with a small chip count and start to play some rash hands too early
with time i think this games could beome very good.

Much more realistic to what you'll see most in the kind of tournaments most here will be playing for real money. The exit rate, at the beginning of this one indicates that some people are going to have to learn more about playing with less chips. You simply don't have the "recovery" room that you do with 10K in starting chips.
I think, like Freddie (great to find oneself in such good company), that they will be much better practice for everyone.

I am glad that the majority so far seem to like the revised starting chips. This was suggested by the players when asked about the new schedule and acted on to try to simulate tournaments that are more realistic to the casino environment. Finding the right balance of starting chips to the structures that I was permitted to use was not an easy task. Players wanted to simulate live play but that is not always easy as we don't have rebuys, so I felt I had to give enough chips to reflect this.
Anyway if any starting stacks are clearly wrong in any tournaments then let me know.

I like the 20 minute rounds very well. I played in 2 of them Thursday and thought it was great. Well done PokerPages.

I ended up sitting in last night's event and really liked how the tournament moved along at a quicker clip. Of course finishing 5th was nice too. Much better for a weeknight game

thank god for 3k in starting chips....I think 1k is brutal...10k should
be for the bigger buy in tourneys...Also 3k makes the player play decent starting hands and not crap......also tightens things up a bit.
hurray for the 3k.................think of it as a super satellite....

Joe, this is getting mighty tedious. Can't you just make your point in one thread rather than upping half a dozen without adding anthing to them?
