  • QQ BB 3-Bet Pot - PSO Home Game Hand

Hello, This hand comes mid way through the tournament: I put the villain on at LEAST JJ+ and my gut is saying better. If he has JJ+, I have the right price to push my stack in. Should I ever fold here? Thanks

How were both the initial raiser and the 3-bettor playing? loose? tight? stationy? If you were running a HUD, what numbers did you have?

The reason that I ask is that it's critical information that is needed to make a decision.

They both seemed to be playing tight. Previously, the initial raiser (X from now on) opened 88 from EP I smooth called with AQ and the button came along. The flop came Q, T, 8 rainbow. X continued, I smooth called, the button raised, X shoved, I folded, and the button called. X had pocket 8s for a flopped set and the button had KQ for a pair of queens. I had enough of a read on X to fold that hand. He could easily be opening a low pair in this case.

My concern here is the very small 3 bet. He has been playing VERY tight. I wasn't running a HUD but I'm confident with my initial range assessment that the 3-bettor is playing JJ+ and possibly better.

Hi Jcrondps! With QQ in the BB, I get a min-raise and a min 3-bet in front of me from tight players. I'm not going to put as much into the size of the 3-bet, as it also could just have been from having the auto-raise button checked (but I absolutely will note it). I'd put more into the sizing if it wasn't a std button they could have hit (means that they had to think about the amount). If the original opener is playing say a 10% range and I give the 3-bettor a very tight range (TT+ AK+), my queens are a +EV play.. BUT.. I will lose more of these than I will win (40.4%). Since I'm ahead, but not the favorite in the hand, with a hand too strong to initially fold, I'm going to flat the 750 here. There's another thing that plays into this and that is the opps' stack sizes. If I 4-bet, then this bet will pot-commit both opps, so I'd be obligated to call off a shove, as I will have the correct odds to do so. With the opp that shoves, I now need to put 3336 into a pot that will be 12412 (26.9%).. but my hand vs JJ+ (per your read) is 40%.... so it's definitely a call. With multiple opps, I'm going to flat here, but if I do 4-bet, I absolutely need to call a shove (or shove first, since the bet pot-commits the opps) as even though I'm behind their range, it's a +EV play. If the opps were loose, I'm 4-bet jamming all day long! Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24) Tweet this hand on Twitter using the Tweet button above for a chance to win a seat in the next $5,000 guaranteed Big Bang tournament.
