  • MicroMillions 8 - AKo in the Cut Off - Tournament Hand

It's $3.30 Micro Millions #5 with 10min structure and 5000 starting stack. The villain had been raising 2 - 2.5 BB with rag aces and face cards. I thought I was ahead preflop, most of the time. So, I decided to isolate her looking at stack difference - thinking she would shove. And she did. Did I play my AKo wrong?

Hi KumarLuv! Against an open-raise from a loose opp, when it folds to me in the cutoff, I'm going to 3-bet AK for two reasons. First, I'm ahead of the opp's range if they're opening any A or broadway and also because I want to isolate the original opener. The one thing that I am going to do is to size the raise smaller though. A standard sizing for me is 2.5-3 times and I'll opt to go to 600, as this is still a large enough bet to pot-commit the initial raiser (if they're even aware of what being pot-committed is). It will also save me an extra hundred chips if the button or BB are tight players and come over the top of me. When it gets back to the opp and they shove, I'm absolutely snap-calling here as I'm just under a 2-1 favorite against the opp's range. Unfortunately, they hit and won the hand, but this will happen about 1 in every 3 times. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24) Tweet this hand on Twitter using the Tweet button above for a chance to win a seat in the next $5,000 guaranteed Big Bang tournament. Thanks for that.

In the tourney, losing it I lost some of my mind too and went on a tilt. Busting out within some 10 hands. Another proof that a long way to go at the tables.
