Hi kics01! This is a good example of where league strategy differs from cash tourney strategy. If this were a cash tourney, when I get a limper in front of me, with 12BB, I'd be shoving here all day long. HOWEVER, this is a league game. Since I need to outlast as many players as possible, I'm going to limp behind and hope to flop a 9. I flop a 9 on a very wet board with 4 opps. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 4 opps, a standard bet sizing is a pot-sized bet, so I will bet 400. I can't bet less than this or I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me... something that I need to avoid. On the turn, I only have one opp left and since a standard bet with one opp is 1/2 pot, I will bet 440. The river puts 4 to a straight on the board and if the opp bets, unfortunately, I need to fold and outlast more people. These games are about one thing, survival, and every player that I can outlast, I will get more and more league points and I need to accumulate as many as possible, in order to move up the monthly leaderboard... where the real $$ in these tournaments is at. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
