  • Sunday Storm - 2 : 1 odds to call with ANY 2 cards even 72o

    Hi,

It actually happened and went with a live training rule of thumb.

Though, I normally squeeze it up to 2.5 : 1 direct odds to call with nearly any 2 cards but what about 72o? Well I was getting even better odds than that and called.

It being sb vs bb was the convincer and in calling progressed further in the tourney for a nice little $68 cash.

    Hi ForrestFive!

Being in the BB and having the SB shove, it will cost me 4506 to call the shove, which is less than 1BB.

When it's this small of an amount of chips to call, I don't even need to look at my cards, as I'm calling it with two blank pieces of paper.

I need to have 19.2% equity in my hand to call and I have much more than this with any 2 cards... even 27o. 27o has 34% equity against a random hand and even 27.7% equity against a top 20% hand. Either are much more than the 19% that I need to call.

    Well played.

        Thanks guys,

So funny I didn't even evaluate the call was less than 1bb. Only looking at the big pre flop pot with ante.

In my head, all I could see was losing with 4bb behind now. But maybe taking a better hit in the sb or on the btn. It would be very unlikely to get dealt 2 worse hands for my tourney life in the next random deals (orbit or blind increase).

Just went with "is that about 4 : 1"? I'm not the best maths and talking equity my eyes glaze over. So it was a sigh and clicked the button.

love the numbers that Coach John put.

based on that snap snap and SNAP CALL then fist pump when opponent showed that we are ahead.

@Coach John is there a video in PSO that will help me teach all the numbers. It seems very important to know it. I'm just too lazy to study the %. I think need to get back on my computation to improve my game.

            Hi Marvin!

Here is a video that Dave did on ODDS. The best way to learn these though is by putting the work in and calculating the pot odds over and over and using pokerstove for equities. I do them all the time for self-review afterwards. The more that you do, the more similar situations that you will see when playing and can then be more informed in your decisions.
