  • big 3.30:flopped set multi way pot: fold?

    should this be a fold?

no stats, but early stages of tourney alot of multiway action early on, alot of mediocre hands at show down with big pots.

so i get 22's in the sb, with a few people to the pot i decide to set mine.

without looking at results, should this be a fold when so much action on the turn in a multiway pot?

i didnt raise on the flop as my plan was to call the flop, and with any card that didnt complete any draws i would check shove the turn trying to extract as much value as possible, since having only 2/3rds of my starting stack.

the hand replayer doesnt work for me, dont know why, but here is the summary and a link to the boom replayer.

Just a cooler at end, but I prefer raising flop multiway .

Hi 666bonez187! With a small pair and deep enough stacks to setmine, I'm more than happy to call and see if I can flop a 2. When I flop my set, I absolutely need to lead the flop here. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the number of opps, size of the pot and board texture. With 4 or more opps, a standard bet is a pot-sized bet, so I will bet 640. I can't bet less than this or check, because by doing so, the opps can get the correct odds to try to outdraw me. If I give them the right odds and they do outdraw me, it's my own fault that I lose the hand. The same thing on the turn. I now have 3 opps, so a standard bet is 3/4 pot, so I need to lead for this amount... BUT.. this is over 1/3 of my remaining chips, which means that if I bet, I'm pot-committed. Due to this, I'm shoving the turn. There are two big keys here. I have to lead the flop with a standard bet and I also need to lead the turn with a standard bet. I can't check and potentially give the opp the correct odds to outdraw me. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Just to add to what John said - as played you should check/shove the flop for the same reasons that he gave for shoving the turn. The board is too wet to slowplay on.
