  • Is there any other way I could have played this?

This is a Premier Skill League game. I've been working hard on my bet sizing recently, I obviously want paid in this hand but can I raise here without shoving? Winning without showdown wins me 1/3rd of my stack but I'm wondering can I extract anything else without telegraphing that I have a monster?

Hey Oval! This one's a good example of where premier strategy is different from open strategy. If this were an open league game, I'd just 3X it to 1275... BUT... with this being a premier game (more like a standard MTT), since this bet pot-commits me, I'm shoving. Even with no action, I'm gaining 40% on my stack without a fight, which is always a good thing. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24) P.S. Since a shove pot-commits me, it actually looks fishier than any other play (so you can get called by lesser hands).

I've been watching a few Andre Coimbra videos and his raising is much less.

I've always pot bet or close to it but I've been much tighter with my ranges - net gain is I get paid more when I hit. I really need to loosen up in MTTs especially early and middle stages and why I asked the question. I was just wondering if this was a spot where I could maybe have raised instead of shoving without giving away a bet sizing tell.

I know this seems a standard spot for many but I'm trying to go a little deeper into the hand/ game.

the prize here goes to the guy open folding off a 10bb stack.

you have to jam there, in theory it looks weaker too as it could easily be a squeeze.

              Hey Oval!

Honestly, if you do anything other than shove here, it should sound off every alarm in the building... to an observant opponent.
