  • 4bet bet-sizing

These are the final 3 tables of "The Big $2.2" , I think there are 21 players left at this point, Vilain shows 21/14 in 90 hands. Did I miss value by 4bet-shoving ? Could I have gotten a 5bet - alin from villain if i 4bet smaller ? ( say to 150k?)

I think you have answered your own Q, 150 looks good to me, he should be commited to a call and then may well shove the flop, and if he shoves it in PF umbup:

Hi davidfranses! Before looking at the 4-bet sizing, the initial bet needs to be looked at too, as it's too small. With AA from UTG, I'm going to make a standard raise, which for this blind level is to 2.2BB+1BB for each limper (30800). Making a min raise is not a play that I want to make here for two reasons. First, it gives the opp the right odds to try to outdraw me and also, it makes it harder for me to get the opp's stack in by the river. I then get a raise to 60k and with AA, I'm definitely going to 4-bet and the key is the sizing. A standard raise would be to between 3X the previous bet and a pot sized raise and when 4-betting, I opt for the top end of this range, so I will raise to 181,250. This raise does not pot-commit me, so I definitely do not want to shove, as by doing so, I give the opp an out to muck. If my raise would pot-commit me (1/3 of my remaining chips in the pot) then I'd shove, but over-bet shoving will lose me value. I also don't want to raise to less than 180k, as this can also give the opp the right odds to try to outdraw me. If the opp wants to 5-bet, then I'm more than happy to 6-bet shove if their 5-bet doesn't put all their chips in. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

is my standard raise since the blinds were 400/200 ; it's also been the table standard since forever.
I don't think the extra 0.4 BB in the pot would really matter for odds.
In any case, I'm 100% happy with my initial raise, it's the 4bet shove that should've been smaller reraise.
