  • League Qualifier AJs How to play draws?

I would shove on the flop in standard MTT but what to do in a league game? Is fold pre-flop best decision ? Playing too tight leads me to very difficult situation makes me very week target to the big stacks.

    Hi schichi,

Since our resident expert on league games, JWK, is on vacation, I'll take a shot at this one for you. If I botch it up someone will be along to set me straight.

The big thing in the league games is the ranking points, which places a premium on getting into the money, so the money bubble threshold is grossly inflated for those in competition on the monthly leader board.

So with that said, it's tough to answer properly since you don't provide this critical info of where we are in the tournament relative to the money bubble, nor do you provide any reads on the opponent. Try to give better, more complete information to get better, more precise feedback, and you'll benefit a lot more from hand analysis than just generic answers can provide.

Pre money with a 25bb stack and an early position opener to 3x, I would probably just fold preflop with AJ to preserve my stack for better, more defined situations en route to the money. If we were already in the money, I might fold, call, or reraise depending on opponent reads and the players behind me.

If it were already in the money, or a normal MTT where I don't care about min-cashing but am playing to win, and I had chosen to flat pre (not unreasonable on these stack sizes), I would shove the flop over his c-bet.
