What did I do wrong on this hand? Should I've been more aggressive on the flop to protect my hand? I never expected Villain_8 to have that hand specially on the small blind and after a pre-flop raise.

Hi DracoPTG! With AJo from UTG+1, this isn't a strong enough hand to be playing from this position in a cash tourney, let alone a league game, where I need to play tighter, so I'm mucking it preflop. If I did play it, I would make my standard opening raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper, which for here is to 300. The only time I open-limp is by a mis-click, as it is a very exploitable play that will cost me a large number of chips doing so. The flop here is a great reason why I don't want to open-limp. I hit top pair with a medium kicker... but I have absolutely no clue whether I'm ahead or not. If I'm ahead, I'd want to raise or call and if I'm behind, I want to muck. With no clue and this being a league game, I'm opting to muck here, especially early in a tourney. The goal in the league games is to last as long as possible to accumulate more and more league points for the end of the month standings (where the real $$ is). To do so, I do not want to take any chances if at all possible, nor to play any marginal hands, especailly early. With a marginal hand, being in early position, I need to muck this preflop. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
