Hi, I think, this is good shove. I thought , that couldn't affort raise fold with my stack and couldn't fold them and couldn't play post-flop. Was it good shove?

Hi Shichi-77! I could really go about this one two ways, depending on my reads of the opps at the tables and for this one no information on the opps was provided, so I'll go thru both scenarios. The overwhelming majority of the time here, I'm going to make my standard open to 2.5BB (1k). I've got 22.5BB, so my stack IS playable post-flop and especially if I think I have a skill edge on the opps behind me, I'm definitely going to just make a standard open and try to outplay them post-flop. In this type of case, I'm not looking to open-shove until I get down into the 12-15BB range and I'm well above that here. If it were a turbo tourney, then I'd up that range into the 15-18BB range as to where I'm looking to open-shove. In an instance where I know that the opps have a skill advantage on me, then I'm looking to open-shove more often in order to take their skill edge away. In the small % of times where this is the case, I'm then going to my shove chart to see if the open-shove here makes sense. With 22.5BB and an ante, from my table position, my chart says that I can open-shove 33+ and 99 is within this range. However, open-shoving here is actually a much closer play though, as the only thing that can make it viable is that there are antes. If there were no antes, then the range for this stack and postion would be TT+, which 99 does NOT fit into. Since it's this close on open-shoving and I do have a playable stack post-flop, I'm going to make a standard open here to 1k. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
