Hi Tommy nolimt! Without the hand histories, it's hard to say. However, every hand is going to get beat a given % of the time, even if the opp has only 1 out. These beats are going to happen and are a normal part of poker. All that we can control is to make the best decision at a given point in time.. that's it. Good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Hi Tommy nolimt! Reads here would help. Were you or the opp playing a large number of hands? If so, then it's a situaiton where it could have been played by both players correctly (their call could be light though). Against their specific hand, JJ wins here 4 in 5 times (80%), but against the opp's range (an opp has to play 27% of hands for this to be within their range)... JJ only wins 66% of the time, so it loses 1 in 3 times. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

You got your money in as a big favourite. That's about the best you can do in poker.
Whether your hand is a big favourite over this villain's range is a different matter (for all we know, he might only make 3x opens with AA/KK/QQ and 98s), but I would think the vast majority of players would be happy to get it in with jacks in this situation. You made a good play and villain sucked out. That's poker!

Those kinds of losses are going to happen over and over and over. The better you're playing, the more often they'll happen (because you'll be getting your chips in as a favorite more often). It's something that you need to learn to deal with and to not have them effect your play.
