  • MicroMillions event 041 Deep. can i fold AQo here on a 14 bb stack?

Hey, Don't have a massive amount of history as i had just moved table. I'm really deep (158/37775 left) and I have just doubled after going on a cold streak of 0 hands in ~4 orbits. Take into account that the first shove was for like 40% of my stack and the guy who re-shoved had what he thought was momentum so he had been shoving a fair bit. http://gyazo.com/30c57c9e18359d6fb9b42ce4b8df108e and here's the script *********** # 1 ************** PokerStars Hand #95771060701: Tournament #2013004041, $0.91+$0.09 USD Hold'em No Limit - Level XLVII (250000/500000) - 2013/03/18 22:23:01 WET [2013/03/18 18:23:01 ET] Table '2013004041 2231' 9-max Seat #6 is the button Seat 1: ponjat (10631166 in chips) Seat 2: MGliver (4369032 in chips) Seat 3: doggystyl500 (4177548 in chips) Seat 4: diamos84 (13965988 in chips) Seat 5: georgios1 (11088692 in chips) Seat 6: dedel87 (5225796 in chips) Seat 7: leonidas1907 (1647695 in chips) Seat 8: StillSweepin (7239376 in chips) Seat 9: Artis Viksne (3569480 in chips) ponjat: posts the ante 50000 MGliver: posts the ante 50000 doggystyl500: posts the ante 50000 diamos84: posts the ante 50000 georgios1: posts the ante 50000 dedel87: posts the ante 50000 leonidas1907: posts the ante 50000 StillSweepin: posts the ante 50000 Artis Viksne: posts the ante 50000 leonidas1907: posts small blind 250000 StillSweepin: posts big blind 500000 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to StillSweepin [Qs Ah] Artis Viksne: raises 3019480 to 3519480 and is all-in ponjat: folds MGliver: folds doggystyl500: folds diamos84: calls 3519480 georgios1: folds dedel87: folds leonidas1907: folds StillSweepin: raises 3669896 to 7189376 and is all-in diamos84: calls 3669896 *** FLOP *** [9c Ac Qc] *** TURN *** [9c Ac Qc] [Td] *** RIVER *** [9c Ac Qc Td] [7c] *** SHOW DOWN *** StillSweepin: shows [Qs Ah] (two pair, Aces and Queens) diamos84: shows [2c 2d] (a flush, Ace high) diamos84 collected 7339792 from side pot Artis Viksne: shows [Jd Js] (a pair of Jacks) diamos84 collected 11258440 from main pot StillSweepin finished the tournament in 158th place and received $98.19. Hey StillSweepin umbup: I too would be getting the chips in here. UTG has just 7 big blinds so he is going to be shoving a very wide range which he have crushed and as for diamos84.... if he was a tight player then I would be a little worried but I'm still going to go ahead and get the chips in. I would assume that diamos84 or any player for that matter, would know that UTG is shoving light which makes it ok for him to call relatively light. If I was in diamos 84's shoes I would be calling UTG's shove with about 12% of my hands and AQ does very well vs that range, and for a player like diamos84... he is going to be calling with way more than 12% of hands. If we lost to UTG's shove then we can still win a side pot vs diamos84 which is nice. Well played and better luck next time! Cheers, Chris.

I'm with Chris here StillSweepin,I think the call here is fine. Here's a couple more reasons besides the stack sizes, reads (limited as you had...) and possibility of getting a side pot off of diamos84 should we lose to Artis (who's range our AQ plays very well against anyway...). You correctly note that you're on 14BB here, which at this stage of a field this big is a pretty shallow stack. In reality it's even MORE shallow than 14BB denotes---your M is 6. M is your stack divided by the BB,SB and antes...so here it's 7,239,376/1,200,000 (500K BB,250K SB & 450K antes)= M 6.03. That's short enough to begin with, but in a 3x Turbo, where the bind jumps are coming fast,it's the equivalent of being on life support. So AQo is easily within the range we should be looking to get our stack in with, even with the action we have in front of us here. Were diamos84 being seen as a nitty type player who is likely on QQ+ and AK here then we can fold. I would need to have a VERY strong read on the player to range them so narrowly though, and his profile and play (a nitty type would likely want to clear the field with a big hand here and would have raised on Artis' shove, not called)is saying quite the opposite here,so it's all systems go I think. Lastly is the "game theory" consideration...we've already achieved a very nice result for our investment here,at this point we should never be thinking about any type of "ladder climbing" scenarios and be focused solely on getting as many chips as possible and trying to make the FT with a fat stack so we can make a run at the top 3 and possibly shipping this sucker. That IS going to involve some gambling and risk taking on our part and this is a good spot for it. Well played, better fortune next time. Congrats on the run. umbup:
