  • UKIPT Div 2 - FT (4 handed) KQs with 20 BB (BT) vs 'All In' (SB) 11BB

UKIPT League Division 2 - MTT (580 ppl). It's the FT & we're 4 handed & I'm second in chips... I pick up Kh Qh on the button with 20BB. I raised 3xBB and Villain (SB) 3bets 'all in' with 11BB. I'm getting approx. 2 to 1 to call and not folding KQs four handed. Hero Stats VP 16, VPR 14, 3B 4, CB 80 20 BB, FCB 45 (289) Villain Stats VP 26, VPR 15, 3B 2, CB 56 11 BB, FCB 43 (274) Question(s): Is there an argument that I should be shipping it here with KQs (with 20BB) & chip leader still to act? As played, what would I do if chip leader (BB) re-shoves... Fold / Call? Any comments / feedback appreciated? Prodigy umbup:

    Hi Prodigy,

Well done on the Final Table.

This deep in an MTT the stacks are going to be shallow quite often. 3BBs is really large to be raising. It is much more common to be raising 2.5 or even as low as the min raise.

With the 3x raise you are getting the right odds to call the SB. But I would be wary with a 3Bet% as low as 2% over a decent sample size of almost 300 hands. If my standard raise was I would entertain raising and folding to the SB shove.

I don't think you want to shove 20BBs as if people are calling with a wider range quite often that range will still be ahead of KQs. Rather than shoving it's better to raise with the intention of calling a SB shove and folding to a BB shove.

If the BB had come over the top I would definately fold even with a 3x raise out there.
