  • NLHE 45 man SnG Flopped a Straight

This is very early so no real reads yet. I'm wondering if I should've bet the flop harder to push off anyone wanting to draw. I have a tendency to bet to get a caller for more value. Maybe that's a mistake here? I posted this in my blog too but I'd love to hear feedback on how to play this situation because it seems to happen to me a lot! Thanks so much!

    Hi 85FastLane,

No, I think your flop bet is plenty big enough. You don't want to chase away all your action.

On the turn another weak lead looks a bit fishy, since what would opp only call the reraise with on the flop and still be happy to bet on the turn. But size could still be a blocker bet from KQ or QJ or something trying to hit the straight. I think you played it right on the turn also and we just have to go with our hand.

Ok thanks, that's reassuring a bit. I also thought the small bet on the turn was strange, and I'd already gotten some value, so I shoved to either get all his chips or get him out. I suppose he expected my raise and did the small bet as a bit of a slow play. In future I might go a little over pot-size for the flop bet rather than a little under. He might not have called that with his top pair/flush draw
