  • NLHE : KK, flopped T89A9

Regrettably, I managed to have lost this hand, with a monster hole cards. Was there any blunder or was it just bad luck? Where did I make a mistake?

    Hi slenderboy1!

Once again, what type of tourney was this from and did you have any reads on the opps?

      Nlhe : Kk, flopped t89a9

      Hi John!

Actually, it was a Play money Freeroll. I've been playing poker for about 5 days now. A toddler.

Hi slenderboy1! With KK, or any other hand for that matter, I want to make standard raises and bets. Here, I have a limp and a min-raise in front of me. My normal 3-bet size in this situation is between 3X the previous bet, 900, and a pot-sized raise, 1110. With multiple opps already interested in the hand, I'll go to the top end of this range and bet 1100. I then get a call and a min-raise. With a premium made hand like KK here, I'm going to re-raise. Once again, my standard bet size would be to between 3X and a pot raise... however, this is the overwhelming majority of my chips, so I'm going to shove. I don't want to call and let someone see cards on the flop that may beat me without paying to do so. I also do not want to be raising less, as then I will be giving the opps, the correct odds to outdraw me. Whenever I feel that I have the best hand, I want to bet enough so that the opps will have to make a -EV play to draw (a play where they expect to lose chips on average). The keys in this hand are the bet sizes and I'd recommend that you attend one or more of the live training sessions on bet sizing. They are held every day and can be found from the live training tab at the top of the page. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
