    Hi AfrikanaC!

What type of tourney is this from? Cash games play different vs league games and did you have any reads on the opps in the hand?

    Please let me know.

Hi AfrikanaC! In a skill league game, the one and only goal is to last as long as possible, in order to accumulate league points for the end of the month leaderboard. I want to do this by taking as few of chances as possible and only playing premium hands. With a standard raise in front of me with AJs on the button, whether I play the hand or not will depend on my read of the opp. If the opp is playing very tight, I'm mucking AJs here, as I'm either behind a pair or outkicked. If it's a looser opp, then I would flat their bet and re-evaluate after the flop, since I'm in position. I'm never raising with AJs in a league game in this situation preflop. The flop gives me top pair, but there is a diamond draw. When the opp bets about 1/2 pot, I'm also going to flat their bet here. Yes, I have top pair/top kicker, but I can easily be beat still. 1/2 pot is enough to price out a flush draw, so as long as the bet is that much, I'm flatting, as I don't want to be all-in until I see all five cards on the board. The key in the league games is to not take unnecessary chances, especially earlier in the tourneys. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
