  • $1.10 MTT Exit Hand 4

Played two more $1.10 MTTs today, failed to cash in both. This one I had lost over 1/3rd of my stack (3k chip starting stack) within the first hour and was down to 18BB just before the first break, knowing the BB would increase from 100 to 150 soon after the break. very passive table I have AQo in the cut-off and with two limpers I just shoved over the top. Is this the correct, standard play given stack sizes, position and action? Obviously I ran into a monster but could I have avoided this? Any thoughts welcome. Ed from Edinburgh - EdinFreeMan

Hi Ed umbup: The only way we are ever able to fold this hand is if we know that UTG is a good player. Good players are never limping a 12bb stack without the nuts, especially from UTG. Given that this is a $1.10 MTT I'm going to get it in every time and be super happy about it. The BB waking up with KK is just a cooler for us. With 18 BB's we have no other alternative way to play the hand. Putting in a standard raise with our stack size is asking for trouble as it will induce other players to come along which is not what we want with out 18 bb stack as it will cause us a lot of post flop problems. You played the hand fine and there was no other way to play the hand profitably. Cheers, Chris.

Thanks Chris, I am happy that I played this hand well, so I suppose I'd better go back and see how I lost those chips that got me into this spot in the first place! Cheers umbup: Ed
