Hi stedds! With 99 in a league game and a limper in front of me, I'm going to call behind and hope to setmine cheaply. When there is a later raise, I'm still going to call to setmine, as the stack sizes allow for it. The flop gives me top set, BUT, this is a very dangerous board with both possible straight draws, a flush draw or a combination draw. When the first opp makes a small bet, I'm putting them on some sort of draw, as they want it cheap enough to get the correct odds to draw. Due to this, with top set, I'm making a pot size raise here to 1060. If the opps call this raise, then I'll play pot control on the turn, as there are a number of cards that can beat me (unless I improve, in which case I'll gladly bet or raise). The second opp now shoves and is called by the first opp. This is BIGTIME trouble for me, because now, since the opps are guaranteed to see both remaining streets, they ARE priced in for either a flush or OESD or a combo draw. In a cash game, with top set here, I have 7 outs to improve on the turn and 10 more on the river, so I will be priced in to call here. However, this is a league game, so with two all-in's, I'm taking the conservative way and mucking top set here. Yes, it's a +EV play, but I'm not very far ahead here (even with their exact hands, I'm only ahead in a coin flip at the flop and I never want to end up all-in in a coin-flip with cards to come early in a tourney, especially a league game). The reward here is not worth the risk of a large negative league score. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
