  • One card away from Royal off the flop

Sorry, this hand was deleted by its owner
I know you shouldn't limp but I knew this was going to cost me. The vilian was pretty loose and well I don't play alot of hands in the open league. I play for the most points I can get! One card away from Royal of the flop. What would you do different

Hi dopplerboyf5! Was this from a league game or a cash tourney. Preflop with AK, I'm going to make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper, which is a raise to 600 in a league game. If this was a cash table, where I do not need to play as conservative due to points, since this is over 1/3 of my chips, I'm shoving AK preflop. The flop brings top pair and a royal draw. However, the board is VERY coordinated and I may not have the best hand. Anyone limping preflop could easily have 2 pair or a flush already. Since I'm not sure that I have the best hand, I'm checking the flop here in a league game and hoping to get a free card to a straight, flush or better. The turn does not help me at all but completes a straight if any opp has a Q (could easily be the case with a limp preflop). Due to this, I'm checking again and hoping that I can get a free card that can help me. I don't want to be building a pot when I most likely do not have the best hand. The river doesn't help me either and due to that, I'm checking again. When the opp that has been passive the whole hand all of a sudden bets 800 (over 1/2 pot), my two pair is almost never ahead here, especially with all the limping preflop, so this is an easy muck in a league game. I want to preserve my chips to last longer in the tourney. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

I don't know about the PSO league coz I've never played in it or thought much about it. But in a normal tourney I'm shoving this Pre Flop all day every day. I don't like the flop and would be tempted to check call even with top pair. Altough I can see the argument for betting to thin the feild a bit I think with a board like this I'd resist the temptation. By the turn I've given up, A bet, here is just bloating someone else's pot. You are only beating a bluff and with this many players left in they can't all have nothing. As for the River call, well I guess we've all done it (I've just bust out of a nine man SNG in equally stupid circumstances) but all that can be said is that it was a horrible play.
Sorry if that last bit sounded harsh but I don't know what else I could say.
        Rob.

Not call on the river, when you are beat. Tough, isn't it??
