  • KTs 45-men

Hey guys! This is a $0.25 45-men. I know that the KTs open UTG is not a good idea, but I've been really inactive on the tables so I decided to give it a shot. I think I sould have shoved the flop to the donk bet of the BB. what u guys think ? Thanks umbup:

Hi fp_boss77! I'm assuming that this is not the final table, where the top 7 get paid from here. Due to this, I'm looking to accumulate chips in order to get into the top 7, then to the top 3, then to win the tourney. With KTs from UTG, I'm going to muck here. There still can be many maniacs or calling stations left and I'm going to have to play the hand out of position, so I'll wait and find either a better hand or a situation where I can be in position. If I did get into the hand, I'd have made my std open-raise, which at this blind level is to 3BB+1BB for each limper, so I'd raise to 450. I flop an OESD with one overcard and an opp leads into me for 450. Now I need to see if folding, calling or shoving is the correct play. I have 8 outs to the straight and possibly 3 more to a K (which may or may not be good). Due to this, I'll discount the K, as KQ, KJ are well within the opp's range. With 8 outs, I have 16% hand equity to the turn and 32% to the river. If I call, I need to put 450 into a pot that will be 1950 (23.1%). This is much more than my hand equity to the turn... so I do NOT want to call. If I shove, I need to put 1306 into a pot that will be 3662 (35.7%) if only the initial better calls. To the river, my hand only has 32% equity. Since the pot equity is more than my hand equity, I do NOT want to shove. If I could guarantee that the 3rd opp would also call, then I would want to shove, as the pot equity will be lower, as the total pot will end up higher... but with them to act after me, I cannot guarantee this. The only other option is to fold the flop... which is the action that I'll take. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
