  • dont know how i could of played this differently

this was hand 37 of the premier league and up to this point i had only played 2 hands one of which was from the SB ( probably should have folded that one ) and villain , like alot of players was playing too many hands in my opinion , like KTs , J5s , 87s , and was calling 3bets out of position with them , so i suppose AT is going to be in his calling range . I may be projecting to much onto villain here , but if he had noticed that i had only played 2 hands to this point ,you have wonder what sort of range he has me on .
i think my pre flop bet is fine and also the 400 cbet but when he calls the 400 any bet i make on the turn has me committed , or do i just check/fold and leave myself with 13 BBs . The problem I have with this league set up is that very quickly everyone is more or less playing short stack .
So should i have shoved here for 19BBs pre flop and take my chances or what ?

Hi Frasier! Preflop, with QQ, I want to make a std raise, which for me at this level is to 3BB. If 2.5BB is the standard raise that you make at this level, it's fine to raise to 250 too. The flop brings an A and to both value bet and to see where I'm at in the hand, I will c-bet this flop and size it at about 1/2 pot. With 650 in the pot, I'll bet 325. When the opp calls this flop bet, it is a huge red flag to me. Players like to call preflop with any A, so there is a good chance that my QQ is not the best hand. Due to this, unless I hit a Q or K 10 for a straight, I'm checking down every street from here on out. Yes QQ is a good hand, but with the A on the board and an opp that has called a preflop raise and a c-bet on the flop, more often than not, they have an ace here. The key to a league game is to be able to survive as long as possible without taking chances and to not go all-in unless I'm certain that I have the best hand. With the A on the board, there is no way to know that I have the best hand, so I do not want all my chips into the pot. I also would not want to be shoving 19BB preflop in a league game, as even with QQ, there's no way to tell at that point in time that I'll have the best hand at the end of seeing all 5 cards on the board. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
