Clear push in the first hand, standard fold in the second. On 5bb UTG, you can push any pair as a rule of thumb. Versus an early position raise, if the opener and I both have at least 15 times his open left behind in our stacks, then I'll usually call and setmine. If I can't setmine, I usually dump all of my non-premium pairs because they play poorly postflop. Anything weaker than QQ is going to flop an overcard roughly half the time or more, and overcards hit the majority of an early position opener's range. If you feel comfortable playing 99 on a Kxx flop, then you can call. But you should not raise in the second hand, because you'll get everything that beats you to call, and everything that you beat will fold. You get no value from shoving 99, and value is a good thing to have. umbup: BTW, post multiple hands in separate threads. They're easier to read and comment on that way.

Hi CZDonkey! In the first hand, is this the final table? If not, then due to the opp being tight, I'm going to muck here and preserve my chip position. If there are 2 tables left, I'm close to the bubble and want to be sure to get ITM before I put myself into a marginal spot (if 2 tables left and the opp was loose, then I'm calling). If this is the final table, then there is only one opp with a lower stack, so I need to chip-up. Due to this, I'm calling since I'm already ITM and need to try to accumulate chips. In the second hand, this should be much before the bubble. There has already been a min-raise and there are still 5 left to act after me. Due to this, I'm going to muck 99 here and look for a better situation, where I can be up against only one opp and hopefully be in position. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
