Hi, Did I make the wrong call? Should I have just folded instead or called the raise instead of shoving? For fun, I also put in the text of what he wrote as he called my all in: *********** # 1 ************** PokerStars Hand #73398427357: Tournament #495249578, Freeroll Hold'em No Limit - Level XIV (500/1000) - 2012/01/06 14:54:38 ET Table '495249578 569' 9-max Seat #6 is the button Seat 1: dzazo (9075 in chips) Seat 2: Matyo_Bs (33226 in chips) Seat 3: rigaro1985 (25880 in chips) Seat 4: Rascapunk (6324 in chips) Seat 5: misztli (33766 in chips) Seat 6: SkinyButPhat (9400 in chips) Seat 7: werderaner10 (17788 in chips) Seat 8: panuch275 (9820 in chips) Seat 9: aksakal_2013 (15520 in chips) dzazo: posts the ante 100 Matyo_Bs: posts the ante 100 rigaro1985: posts the ante 100 Rascapunk: posts the ante 100 misztli: posts the ante 100 SkinyButPhat: posts the ante 100 werderaner10: posts the ante 100 panuch275: posts the ante 100 aksakal_2013: posts the ante 100 werderaner10: posts small blind 500 panuch275: posts big blind 1000 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to SkinyButPhat [Qd Qh] aksakal_2013: folds dzazo: calls 1000 Matyo_Bs: folds rigaro1985: folds Rascapunk has timed out Rascapunk: folds Rascapunk is sitting out Rascapunk has returned misztli: raises 1750 to 2750 SkinyButPhat: raises 6550 to 9300 and is all-in werderaner10: folds panuch275: folds dzazo: folds misztli: calls 6550 misztli said, "waa i need to call u with chit"*** FLOP *** [4s 7d 5s] *** TURN *** [4s 7d 5s] [Jc] *** RIVER *** [4s 7d 5s Jc] [5c] *** SHOW DOWN *** misztli: shows [Jd 5d] (a full house, Fives full of Jacks) SkinyButPhat: shows [Qd Qh] (two pair, Queens and Fives) misztli said, "" misztli collected 22000 from pot SkinyButPhat finished the tournament in 489th place *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 22000 | Rake 0 Board [4s 7d 5s Jc 5c] Seat 1: dzazo folded before Flop Seat 2: Matyo_Bs folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 3: rigaro1985 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 4: Rascapunk folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 5: misztli showed [Jd 5d] and won (22000) with a full house, Fives full of Jacks Seat 6: SkinyButPhat (button) showed [Qd Qh] and lost with two pair, Queens and Fives Seat 7: werderaner10 (small blind) folded before Flop Seat 8: panuch275 (big blind) folded before Flop Seat 9: aksakal_2013 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Thanks Deaner

        Deaner,

I like the shove in this situation and here's why....

You have a stack of 9300, which at this point in the tourney is less than 10BB and have a premium category 1 hand. There also are currently 6150 chips already in the pot, before yours or anyone that call's you put their chips in.
If everyone folds, that's a 66% increase to your stack without a fight.
If someone does call, you have a chance to win a pot of at least 22k chips with a premium hand.

Most likely the original raiser will call here, which they do, and everyone else drops (you could have easily gotten multiple callers here too).
QQ plays better against one hand than multiple hands, as the more that are in the pot, the better of a chance that you have of an opp drawing out on you and winning the hand.
When the hold cards get flipped over, you're an 83.8% favorite to win the hand, which is better equity than what a normal opp's range would be here (about a 71% against any A, pair, broadway cards).

Unfortunately, the opp got lucky and hit two 5's on the board for trips, but in my eyes, you made the absolutely correct play.

i guess that is my big question.

Since it wasnt isolated and two others had the chance to call my all in, and had chips in the pot, was I maybe sticking my neck out a bit too much here?

If it had simply been SB vs BB, I would make that call all day long, but with a potential 4 players, should I take my foot off the gas a bit?

          Thanks

          Deaner

If you had less of a hand, then it's going to be different, but with less than 10BB, I want to be looking for a situation to get all my chips into the pot (especially if I'm the first one to be shoving). With a premium hand, like QQ, I would shove here.
It's better if there is only one potential opponent, but with a premium hand, it'll be a +EV play for you in the long run, even with more than one opponent.
