  • How not to play JJ

The villian had been raising a lot of hands, and appeared to be stealing a lot. I thought this was another steal, and so I shoved, thinking I'd get a fold. That turned out to be a very bad read. I'm not sure I played this very well.

Think of your image utg and what villain is going to do that play with.
I fold in that situation most of the time.

If he has been doing that light your still going to have problems when he has a hand.
Aggressive players get stacks by playing aggressive and getting paid when they have it.
Having paid off enough of these players I have learned some restraint from shoving on them or calling their allins.

Lets say he is a donk,he could be doing that with Acerag, any pair and even suited connectors.
He would have to be a drooler thou to not put you on a strong hand utg.
Any player with a bit of savy will give you credit for a strong hand.
So it then breaks down to history and how he sees you and how you see him and how he thinks you see him.

So pretty much reads but I fold this with out reads.
Call if he is a nutcase and fold all other spots.

    Thats just me thou.

Here is another JJ hand that was misplayed as I was typing a response.
Villian told the other player with AQ he put him on big slick..lol

He wasnt paying attention because AQ guy was 14/9 and he was 21/10.
Made a comment about me playing bingo when I was 6/6 earlier on..lol

Hi Joy, I would off done exactly the same as you did here. I don't think I could ever fold here with JJ. You were in front when the money goes in, Isn't that what it's all about? I know it still hurts when you get so far. Good Luck to youumbup:umbup: PS: Is this the right hand as you don't shove you call his shove????

I don't think I'm raise/folding JJ on a 15 bb stack unless the guy shoving over me is a super nit, if this guy has been very active then I'm getting it in on this stack size with JJ. I agree with cookies as active as the guy has been he's not 3 betting you with air because he doesn't expect you to raise/fold on this stack size from UTG, but JJ is too strong to be raise/folding here imo... we'll be in lots of flips and sometimes be looking at TT/99/88 as much as we are QQ-AA. I'm fine playing a flip on a 15 bb stack.

as far as it goes ill join the call group, JJ is a nice hand if ur short stacked.

Remember your not playing against 1 opponent. There are alot of other people that can call or raise you when your OOP thats why position matters so much

These ones are really hard to take Joy and I do not think you played it badly at all.

We have all come across players that raise and shove light, and that puts us in a sticky situation if they shove over us. A lot of the time it is something like A rag they hold but sometimes they do wake up with a hand and you just have to take it on the chin, which can be easier said than done.

              Cheers,

              TC

I agree with the others. Opp with any history of shoving light at all... I'm shipping it here every time. Unfortunately, this time, they woke up with a real hand.
