  • Was it a good deal to chop it up?

Lat night I was playing a Hi/Lo Plo game and when we were 2 left, the other player asked if I wanted to chop 1/2 - 1/2. At his point I was tired and it's been a long time since I've played poker (5 years), so I accepted. What would you guys have done?

normally im a fan of making deals but this was a good deal ...for him

As you had more chips I would have asked for ICM numbers and dealt that way..... guess if you were very very tired you didnt lose out by much though

you should run the numbers with pokerstars

then again with only 13bb lots of variance & being tired I dont think you lost out by tomuch (if you hdnt of dealt and he wouldhav ewon you could hav elost lot more

Of course if you felt he had abig edge on you then 50 /50 split is fine

Short-stacked like this and only 3bb difference, I don't mind the deal, especially if you're not as used to playing this long of a game and also that it's not NLHE, which I know you're more used to. If we had a big chip lead, I'd want an ICM chop, but for 3bb when both are short-stacked... not a problem IMO.

ICM would be better deal for you due to you was the bigger stack (so you get more than 50% of the remaining prize pool). I would ask for ICM,or no deal.

I mainly agree with you Taurus221 except for the no deal aspect although that could be the risk of a consequence of him declining ICM chop of course...not tryin to sit on the fence here though so variance is high stacks are short ....actually a chip chop would be ok if you kne wt he payours before the deal you can use a poker calculator to find your expected payout......I just ran the numbers based on 1st getting 63% and 2nd 37% (dont know if this was similar to your tournament) and you only lost out by around $7 so no biggie

Obviously if it was for 1000's of dollars the amount would grow significantly

I would gladly pay $7 for a good sleep

You're giving up a small bit, having a chip lead, but the chip lead is very slight. Literally you start the hand with 1.8bb's more than villain. It's a high variance situation with such shallow stacks, and you were tired and perhaps mentally taxed... so I think the deal is totally fine imo.

              Congratulations!!!
