  • Not getting value

Playing at 2NL and failing to get value for my premium hands (AA/KK). I probably have a fairly aggressive image at the table. Anything I could be doing better here?

Hi aReJay007! Anyone that limps big hand is not going to have an aggressive image, they will be labeled as passive by everyone at the tables. When playing hands, I want to be making the same bets, regardless of what my hand is, as this helps to conceal the strength of my hand. Preflop, I need to make a standard raise, which for me in this situation is to 6 cents. I then need to make a standard value bet of 1/2 pot on the flop. I do not ever want to open-limp. This is a very weak play that is easily exploitable by the opps, especially a knowledgeable opp. When players make abnormal plays and bets, they basically turn their cards face-up to an observant opponent and due to this, I need to make every action that I take in a hand follow a consistent line. As soon as I'm not consistent, that will raise a red flag to an observant opponent and my big hands will not get paid off. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

I very rarely slow play big hands, you lose too much value in the long run. About the only time I will slow play is if an aggro fish opens and it folds to me and I am closing the action and I know he will fold to a 3 bet but c bet almost 100% of the time.

I especially don't like limping the sb with AA because the BB will play back at you with a much wider range than normal. I always size my sb open bets a little larger because most of the time I am stealing and I am going to be out of pos. the rest of the hand, so I would keep my sizing the same for my monsters. For me in a cash game I size my hj co to 2.5x and my button to and my sb to 3 or 3.5x depending on what I can get away with.
