  • 1000 NLHE Tourney KQ all in or fold??

Got scared off this pot, reluctantly folded because the guy with 30K of chips would have put me all in. Would you do the same, could I get some wise feedback please. ** moved to Basic Poker Hand discussions **

UTG with a little more than 10 BB I would fold. Firstly I don't think min-raising is a good idea, you will likely be forced to shove eventually if you enter this pot. Better do it on your terms and all-in now if you do decide to raise.

      Hey ligh7foo7,

There are some things about this hand I would play different. You got QK UTG with 11BB left. For me it is either shoving here or folding, but this depends on the players on the table (loose or tight ?).

You chose to limp UTG. Limping UTG is never a good idea in my opinion, because worse hands might call (and get lucky), you are out of position and it puts you in a difficult situation when somebody re-raises. And indeed, somebody re-raises to 1200 chips. You chose to call again and therefore putting already 40% of your chips in the pot pre-flop.

The flop is a good one. There are no possible flusdraws and you have toppair with a decent kicker. But why did you chose to check and fold on the flop?? I mean, this is the kind of flop you were hoping for pre-flop right? At this point, you are forced to go all-in, without being scared of the big stack. Otherwise you will never gain a big stack.

      Hope this helps you

yeh I was waiting to see what they called, so I could match it. (Without it being all in).
If it was too big I would guess they would have 2 pair.
