  • MicroMillions Event 41 - Thin Value attempt, Good or Not?

Early in the tournament. Villain is approximately 73/0 over 9 hands, and will call bets out of position with weak holdings. The flop is not great, and although the turn is safe, I'd like to keep the pot small. When he still shows weakness on the river, I decide that I might be able to get some thin value in this spot - sure, he'd call with an ace or a straight, and possibly even raise a flush, but it also seems likely he'd call with any other pair, which make up more of his range. Was this reasonable to assume? Was a thin-value bet here appropriate? If not, why not? If yes, was the bet-sizing still too big?

    Hi christof

Checking back the flop is good but I'd have liked to see you bet the turn to protect your hand. As played, betting the river is good. Checking back all three streets against this player type would be a mistake. He seems the sort that will call a bet with any naked Q in hope of hitting the gutshot straight draw so you're missing out on value when you check back the turn. Your bet sizing on the river is fine, with the pot being so small and insignificant you could gave bet more, upto 2/3's of the pot but 60 is fine. Anything between 30% and 50% seems appropriate.

    Cheers, Chris.
