    =====

    Okay so I didn't know if I should or not, so I removed the names. I'm new to the forums. I wanted to get an opinion on this hand. I assumed the player had Ace/Ace or similar, but could this have just been agressive play, since I saw similar but not quite as large bets from him/her before with that kind of strength? Would/Should I have not raised initially with a pair 7s? etc.? Any tips etc. are much appreciated.

    Hi TheB4r0n! The first thing that I see with this hand is the 1.01 chip stack. When playing a ring game, I always want to have the maximum allowed at the table, which for 2NL is $2. I don't want to sit with less, as it can lower the amount of my wins when I get a monster hand and also it doesn't allow me to make the necessary plays that I want to. With 77, I'd like to call behind here to setmine, but since I don't have 15X the bet in my stack, I cannot do so due to not having the correct odds. With this being the case, I then either need to raise or fold (where calling to setmine would be the best play if I had the chips). If player 9 has shown this pattern with monster hands, then I'm folding... but the big key here is to sit with the max stack, so that I can call and see if I flop a 7. If I was able to do this, then it's a way to crack a big hand by the opp and possibly win their entire stack. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

      Okay, so because my stack was smaller it was good that I raised instead of calling. You said at $1.01 my stack was too small, but I didn't buy-in at that. Would you have re-bought in to have a larger stack for the hand? Thanks.

        Yeah. For 2NL, I top off whenever my stack goes below $1.75 and most players have auto-topup on, so they never go below $2.
